"Exit Hymn" is about the end of the world. It ends, however, not with the masses in a panic, but with all people - the "brothers and sisters" - in a calm silence. It took the apocalypse for everyone to finally appreciate each other, so let us appreciate our worldly siblings - both close and far-removed - on 12/21/2012.
lyrics
Lovely shapes to the world descending,
Brothers and sisters.
Lovely shapes to the world descending,
Brothers and sisters
Mute.
Oh, darkness
Light the way.
All was stone but all is clay
Who will hold us when we're not
Brothers and sisters, brothers and sisters
Brothers and sisters
Mute.
